Thanksgiving

I heard something on the radio the other night and I don't have this exactly right but Nancy Leigh DeMoss said something like this," What if your supply tomorrow depended on your thankfulness today?" I thought this was great. They talked about thanking God for everything.

It is good to be home tonight. We left town for nine days to visit our families. We really enjoyed our time together. We spent the first part of our trip in South Arkansas with my folks and the second half with Steve's folks in Memphis. We left crazy Kristen the cat alone for all those days. I am happy to report that she did survive but there is cat fur EVERYWHERE. When she is stressed, she pulls her fur out. She is bald on the left side tonight.
The majority of my packing for our trip was a medicine bag. Yes, I took everything we had for sick children. Of course, the one drug I did not bring was Emily's cough syrup that she was prescribed a couple of weeks ago. We left town with a sick little Sarah Kate. She has gotten well, but last Saturday Emily began coughing and then started running fever in Memphis. Poor E had to miss the Thanksgiving celebration at Granny's house in Mississippi. Emily cried and cried. She had looked so forward to seeing Granny and playing with her little cousins. But, she had a good time with her Kay-K. She is feeling much better today!

The people that live across the street from my parents have two horses. Emily thinks they are Meme and Granddaddy's horses. She loves to see the horses and feed them apples.

Steve LOVED hunting with Scott when we were in South Arkansas. No deer, but he loved being with Scott and his family and being in the woods. My parents and I just stayed around the house and took care of sick little girls. It was good to just relax. (Well, it is hard to relax with a 3 year old and a 17 month old.)

I love this picture. SK was knocking at her Daddy, who was outside.
In Memphis...............Baby Reid and Sarah Kate dressed alike one day. This is the best I could get of the two of them together. We tried to keep the girls away from Reid as much as possible. We don't want him to get sick! He is so cute and so good.
One of the highlights of my trip: Feeding my precious nephew. It doesn't get any better than that!
Sarah Kate feeding herself some spaghetti that Kay-K made.
My SIL, Cissy and Reid. We had fun together.
This is a picture of the WORLDS BEST WINGS. Chili's has the worlds best chips and salsa and D-Bo's in Memphis has the BEST wings. I am NOT a wings girl but I have loved these ever since Steve and I have been dating. A must have in Memphis!!!!!!!

My in-laws kept the kids on Thanksgiving night so that Justin and Cissy and Steve and I could have a date. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a such a good time and we saw Blindside. I have never liked a movie more than that one. IT IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I began crying early on and was just a mess when we left. I want to see it again. I usually never say that.

More posts from our trip later. I need to get in my own bed and sleep.

The Blind Side was sooo good. We were "this close" to buying tickets to see the show right after ours. Fantastic.

Here's hoping for healthy girls soon!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
