More Finger Trauma!

I will post more details when I am not so tired, but we made a trip to the E.R. this evening.

Emily now has croup. She has wanted to be held all day. I was holding her on the couch and SK got in the trash and cut her hand on a can I had opened at lunch. It bled soooooooooooooo bad. Our house looked like a crime scene. Steve met me at the E.R. The DR. did not sew it up. It is still bleeding off and on. Our prayer is that she will keep a bandage on it for 24 hours. A sixteen month old and a bandage is not a good combination. She keeps pulling it off.

Laurie this has not been your month. I hope Emily starts feeling better soon and Sarah Kate's finger does ok. Yea not likely she will leave that bandage on, but glad she didnt have to get stitches. Give the girls a hug from Aunt Cissy and Uncle Justin

Oh Laurie, I am so sorry. I am praying things slow down for ya'll. And also praying for Sarah Kate. I hope it gets better very quickly! Love you!

One thing after another, huh? I sure hope SK's finger will heal and she will keep that bandage on. Croup made JM SOO needy, so I know you've got your hands full with another little one running around. If I were able to do more than waddle and sit, I'd take SK off your hands for a few hours!

We had all 3 of ours to the ER in July- two busted chins and the baby twice with reactive airways (that's how I spent my bday). This, too, shall pass- but man, it's rough when it's happening, isn't it?! Praying for you!

P.S. A nurse at the gym where the kids go told me about the super glue you can get over the counter; I can't remember the name of it. Anyway, that's what our insurance paid $700 for when The Boy busted his chin- 5 minutes of glue time.

Oh how scary~my daughter busted her head open this summer and had to have 3 stitches~scared me to death. I know exactly what you mean about the crime scene. So thankful that they didn't have to stitch it though. That can be very traumatic for mommy! Praying that she will leave it alone so it can close some and the bleeding will stop. Also praying for some CALM for you guys!!!

oh NO poor babies!!!!!!My 7 month old has swine flu right now (6 hours at the ER on Sunday), and the 2 year old is not liking the attention her little sister has been getting. I feel your pain. Everyone is going to be fine of course...

I'll pray for your girls.

Laurie, I just am so sorry about all you have been through in the past month or so. Things just have to get better! Poor SK...hope she is healing well! Hope all the Ormans get on the "ALL-WELL" list soon!
Praying for you all!
You have been through so much lately! I keep meaning to call, but I'm on my second week of recovering from the flu and still coughing a lot! I'll be praying that things get easier soon. Arden did the EXACT thing in August and sliced her finger open on a metal can lid by digging in the trash! She was 20 months then. I got a butterfly bandage and then put two regular bandaids over that to make it a hard thing to pull off. It bled off and on for 24 hours, but it didn't seem as bad as SKs by the amount of blood! Poor thing!

Laurie, I cut myself on a can one time too and it bled a lot. It hurt for a quite a while. She is such a trooper. I hope that Emily will get over the croup and ear infection soon. I just have one child right now. We are having another baby in June. I can only imagine I will be having the same type of year that you are having, next year. I am reading your posts and learning how you handle it all. :-)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
