Goodbye Lipstick , Hello Vaseline!

This morning, I went to a dermatologist about the hemangioma on my bottom lip. It has been there for about eighteen months and it was slowly growing. It really grossed me out. The Dr. I saw was very very nice and informative. But, he was very soft spoken. I was worn out when I left from trying to hear what he was saying.
He called the spot a venous lake. He also added that it had a tail. I did not want anything on my lip called a lake or that had a tail.
He gave me a shot in my lip and then used a round scalpel to cut it out. He then put stitches in my lip. None of this hurt at all.
I look like I have been in a fight and I can't use my beloved lipstick for a while. But, I am glad to have it off. I am thankful that it went well and that it was nothing serious.
The dr told me this was from sun damage. This is one of the reasons I get spray tans!!!!!!!!!!! Yay for the spray!!!!!
The sweet lady at the check-out desk talked softer than the doctor, if that is possible. I think she had a bad cold. I felt like I was the loudest person in the place and I am not loud at all.

I know your lives have really been enriched by reading about my lip.

Vaseline is petroleum jelly. Petroleum, as in a product of gasoline. Not good for your lips. Choose a chap stick with no petroleum!

I am a random reader of your blog, (I have been reading it for a while) and I just wanted to say that you are so cute! I love the way you write; you write just like they way my friends and I talk to each other! :)

I'm glad nothing was seriously wrong with your lip and hopefully the incision/stitches will heal up soon!!!

Laurie - I use Reader to read blogs, so I usually don't make it over here to comment, but I read every post you write. I think you are hilarious and I love your honest life stories! Thanks for sharing your life-enriching tales!

You are the funniest blogger I read, and I read a lot of blogs! Even better than the "professional" bloggers! Can we be friends?!

Glad it was a successful appointment! I am laughing about the quietness of those handling your medical care. I get to go see my dermatologist every 6 months (lots of "beauty marks" to keep an eye on) and I always feel like everyone is yelling. It's probably because 90% of the people in there are 80+ years old and have poor hearing. All of which makes me feel super cool. :-) Love you Laurie! Your posts always brighten my day!

GLAD you are ok!!
Laurie,
Glad to hear everything is ok. I also agree with the other commentors (or is it er). You keep it real and are funny. First time to comment myself; however, maybe that's because my three year old is asleep and have the time.
Many blessings.

You had me thinking for a minute that something was wrong with that lipstick and I was thinking o no don't say that after I have been using it for almost a year. Glad everything worked out with your lip. You should post a picture of your lip.

About a year ago, the dermatologist had to do a biopsy on a spot on my face and I ended up with a few stitches BUT they put a bandage on the side of my face that I swear was the size of Texas!! This was before I quit my job to stay home with my son, and I was a TELLER at a bank!! HOW EMBARASSING!! IT looked like my face had gotten run over!! Just be thankful you won't (hopefully) have to see a million people a day!! :) I"ll be praying it heals fast!!

Laurie, you just made me giggle! I totally have the veggietales "I love my lips" song in my head. Do you know the one? It's where Larry the cucumber is talking about his lips.

I'm glad your appointment went well and you don't have to worry about it any more. =)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
