Fun with K-Kay and Pop

We have had Steve's parents with us for a few days. We have enjoyed having them here. K-Kay loves playing with the girls and of course the girls love it! Emily dressed K-Kay up in this attire the other day. I laughed and laughed.
When Sarah Kate woke up from her nap, I suggested we all go in so we could see Sarah Kate's expression when she saw K-Kay. She did NOT think it was funny at all. In fact, I think it made her mad.
Emily's letter of the week is V, as in visor. She thought she looked good in her visor. I have to agree!

Steve's parents kept the girls last night so that Steve and I could go on a date. We had fun and we had a good meal.

I have to share my pet peeve in a restaurant: When the wait staff takes away my food too soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me say, it would be a very good dieting plan for me if they would take the food away soon after it comes. I know they are just being nice and wanting to clear the table off.
I eat VERY SLOW. I like for all my plates to stay on the table until I get out of my seat. I may eat soup for a while, then my main meal, then dessert and then come back to my main meal or appetizer............I graze off all the plates.
Last night I got soup, then my meal came. I had not eaten much of my soup and the waiter took it away. I always hate to say, "I am still working on that."
Maybe I should just make a cute little sign and put it on the table that says, "DO NOT TAKE ANY PLATES FROM THE TABLE." I am just kidding.
I should not complain. I have probably missed many calories from having plates taken away too soon. It is probably a really good thing!

Just act like you will bite them if they try to take your food to soon. LOL Glad you had a good date! I'm sure the girls enjoyed their Grandparent time.

I'm with Melissa, I never have a problem saying, "Wait! I'm not finished with that!" After all, I paid for it, I should get to eat it! :-)

I don't like it when they take mine away, either! I'm just like you when I eat out!

That is one of my pet peeves too! I like when they ask first!! Glad the girls got to spend time with grandparents! I always loved spending time with mine when I was their age!

Oh, that is one of my pet peeves too! And I dislike it when they remove the plates of those in our group who have finished while the rest (me) may still be eating. That is a HUGE breach of etiquette!! If you go to a fine dining restaurant, they NEVER remove any plates until the whole table has completed the course. But the regular everyday restaurants do it all the time and I get so annoyed! I have thought about the little sign idea too! ha ha. Maybe not such a bad idea!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
