Church Lately

P.J. Party musical

Last night of AWANA
Emily's AWANA leader. Her name is also Emily. My Emily loves her. I think the feeling is mutual.Emily and her friend Alex.

Last night Emily had her little preschool choir musical. She would not have missed it for the world. We were proud of her and all the other children. They did a fantastic job! The musical was called P.J. Party, so they got to wear p.j.s to church. Emily stood by Cooper in the musical. She thinks he is pretty grand. She always asks if Cooper is going to be at choir. She asked me what p.j's Cooper would like her to wear. It is sad that she is four years old and already wondering what a boy will think of her.

Last Wednesday night she had her AWANA closing program. She has really enjoyed AWANA!

Emily has not mentioned the cat to us. I feel we did the right thing!

You most certainly did the right thing about Diamond/pink-a-boo/crazy cat!!!! She clearly wasn't right for you guys. Not with nuts-o Kristin still around!

The kids looked so cute in their PJ's! Would have loved to been there to see Emily preform! Wed. night is our last night of AWANAs and I hate to bid them good-bye. Most of my Cubbies are moving up to the next level!

The PJ Party looked SO CUTE! Who puts out good preschool music? I would love to see our preschool kids do something at least for Christmas this year but didn't know where to even start looking.

Sorry to hear you had to take the cat back. We got a dog about a year and a half ago. I THOUGHT I was ready. It was even my suggestion. I am not sure what possessed me but we went and picked up "Chip". He was the cutest little yorkipoo. But he came home and started licking all over Avery's stuff (she was only 6 months or so at the time) and I just couldn't take it. I think once your kids get bigger it is easier to take care of a pet. They are like a child too. I certainly don't need to another one to my "brood". I love them but the inn is FULL. :)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
