Choices and Changes

If and only if the price is right, I am wanting to get my dining room re-painted.  I like the red, but I am tired of it.  According to two decorators I know, they say red is OUT.

I would love to be trendy and do some sort of blue/green/gray tone, but I think the safe route would be a tan/nuetral color.  We had the living room and dining room painted Latte in January and I LOVE it!!!!  I THINK I am going to do the dining room in the color one step up from that called Hopsack.

P.S. Why don't you use some of the colors you mentioned and create some big art?!

Could you post a picture of your living room? We are about to close on a new house and I have latte picked out as our bedroom color. Would love to see it on the wall :)

We just painted almost our entire house "kilim beige" from that same strip. I think any of those colors would look great in your dining room. :)

Love those color choices--Good luck! We painted our dining room last weekend (SW Dapper Tan, 125%, I think...a shade darker than the Dapper Tan on the strip), and I was happy with the change!

We painted our kitchen Sherwin Williams "Sea Salt." It looks green/gray on the card, but it's a beautiful blue gray on the walls, and looks so pretty with everything. I'm now wishing I had painted our whole house that color. I love how paint can change a room.

I changed our dining room from red to gray. It took me 5 tries to get the right shade of gray, because a lot of grays turn out looking light blue. A very neutral and pretty gray is Mega Greige by Sherwin Williams. That was the one that finally worked and I love it!! Hope you do some before/after shots. :)

Our bedroom is painted hopsack and I love it! It is a very soft and calming beige. It pairs well with blues and teals.

Laurie, my house is painted Latte and my dining room is painted Hopsack! How funny! I love it but I have been obsesssed with the HGTV show Fixer Upper and now I want to paint everything gray (which would not go with anything I own and is a very bad idea according to my husband. Llol!!!)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
