What a Week!

Monday was quite the day!
Emily was up all night Sunday with an ear ache.  She missed school....her first time to miss this year.  I took her to the Dr. and it was confirmed that she had an ear infection.

Got home from the Dr and received a call from my dad that my mama was going by ambulance to Arkansas Heart Hospital with pain in her left shoulder and arm.  They did not mess around with these symptoms.  After many test, PRAISE JESUS, it is NOT her heart!!!!!  Still in pain with her shoulder and arm.  Pray that she will find the source of the pain and will get relief.

Frisco, the new kitten has been sick too.  He went to the vet when we got home from Emily's Dr visit.  We think he ate something bad or has a sensitivity to his food.  I think he is feeling better now.

I hope the rest of the week will be better than the first part.

Yesterday,  I went with Emily's class on a field trip to a cave.  We had a really good time!  It was all very interesting!

Gall bladder attacks have the same symptoms as a heart attack..hurting in your shoulder, sick, etc.

Laurie, so glad the tests results were good for your mom and pray that will soon have relief from shoulder/arm pain. Know they are glad to be home. Love the pictures of my precious granddaughters! Enjoy the rest of the week! Love, Kay-K

Addilyn is correct. A gall bladder attack can be very similar to a heart attack. Normally comes after eating, particularly something 'fatty'. She did the right thing going by ambulance though because studies have shown that treatment for women's heart attacks are less aggressive. Also, when you go by ambulance, you most likely avoid triage and get immediate attention. Hope she feels better soon. Hope all of you, including kitty, feels better soon!

I rushed my husband to the ER in the middle of the night because we both thought he was having a heart attack. He was about 32 at the time. Maybe younger. Scared me to DEATH. Gall bladder was the culprit! He hadn't eaten anything that normally triggers it, but it came on very suddenly.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
