Miracle Cream?

I will be forty very soon. I don't feel forty. I hope I don't look forty. That age sound so mature. I keep seeing in all the magazines about creams that make you look younger. I have never ever bought any. In fact, I never take my make-up off before I go to bed. I have never had any kind of face routine.
I have always had real pronounced lines around my mouth. I just think it is the combination of fat cheeks combined with a big smile. I have always thought I had the mouth of a ventriloquist dummy.
Anyway, I was in the store with a friend last week and I saw an Olay boxed set for half price. It had been $50. I got it. I told my friend that my skin was deteriorating around my chin. She burst into a laugh that could be heard all over the store.
I have been using this kit over the weekend and I have two BIG zits on my face. I think my face is just best left alone.

I have thought about buying that too! I have very sensitive skin, so I'm sure I would have big zits too:)

Hey girl! Give it time. Basically what is happening is its bringing all the impurities to the surface. I have the same problem. Just give it time. Good luck.......but you don't need it!!!!!

Every "product" I've ever tries either give me chemical burns or eczema--and I only ever tried those for "Sensitive skin!" I'm convinced they're all a crock. =)
We have the same skin care routine (before you bought the package)! Like you, the more I mess with my face, the worse it looks. So I just save my energy!

Melanie (Big Mama) mentioned some new contraption that I can't remember the name of now, but I looked it up and I think I need one. I'm still a bit miffed that at 38 I still get zits...have I not paid my dues!? Keep us posted!! :)

You look great, Laurie!

Soooo IF the point of the cream is to make you look younger....wouldn't zits be proof that it's working? ;-P

I'm the same way. I hate using sunblock even because I know I'm going to break out badly the next day. (But I of course use it anyhow)
Your blog always makes me laugh! I am like you though I have never washed my face at night or had any nightly routine as far as that goes. As soon as a friend convinces me of how important it is and I start doing it, my face breaks out like crazy which it never does. So, I give up until I have to! And you look great I would hardly think your close to 40!!!

I haven't tried the Olay stuff, but once got a sample of Arbonne's anti-aging line and my face broke out horribly. I contacted the consultant and she said that it is thicker than regular moisturizers to help firm up the skin and it isn't the best for some skin types. I'm going to be 33 in March and already have too many fine lines for my taste, but I'm hesitant to start anything for fear of spending all of that money to have my face break out and never use it again. Sigh...

I would hardly know what to do if I didn't see raccoon eyes in the morning on your face. :) You just CANT start washing all that off every night.

You know I have never thought about face cream until last year. I have used the same facial stuff for YEARS. I still use the same moisterizer and have since added a wonderful under eye cream that has avacado in it. It's awesome. And I usually go ahead and rub a little on my forehead and neck for good measure. LOL

Aging stinks.

you have to try a new cream or wash or even makeup for at least 3 weeks before you decide if it really breaks your face out. your skin is just adjusting to the new oils etc. i almost bought that but i opted for the aveeno cream instead. i'm curious to see how it works. i have the same lines around my mouth. i'm 30 and have horrible skin spots and lines. hoping the aveeno is magic! :)

T Sharee is right. When you start to wash your face with something it brings all the impurities out. It will even out in a couple of weeks. I HAVE to wash my face every night. I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing there is any makeup on my face. But, that is just me. Doesn't help the pesky lines and wrinkles I have though. You made me laugh so hard. You are truly beautiful. Inside and out!
Good luck.

You need to try Mary Kay. We have an entire line of anti aging products that work miracles. As someone said before, any new product may break you out first, but after two weeks you should know if it is cleared up!!
I like the plain boring Olay cleaner at night (in a pump) for sensitive skin that takes off all my make up and eye stuff before I got to bed. That's it for night because all night creams are too heavy and make my combination skin break out. I do LOVE the Olay ProRx line and use the daily renewal lotion with SPF 30 under make up every day. It isn't greasy, doesn't make me break out, and helps with fine lines and evens skin. I think SPF is the main thing to use to avoid future wrinkles over heavy night creams.

Same story here. I got some Olay Regenerist Night Cream (it's in a purple jar) and within a week I had two MAJOR cystic zits on my chin. I had to take antibiotics to get rid of them. But...now I am fine and I like the cream. Serious trial by fire to get the eventual results.:)

first you don't look 40...and I feel the same way about using new products, its a gamble. However, I watched a famous makeup artist on GMA or something and she was asked what is one beauty secret she would give away-she said DON'T EVER GO TO SLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON, ESPECIALLY EYE MAKEUP, because it sits in your skin and actually makes wrinkles overnight!! So now, I drag myself to the bathroom and wash off my makeup every night, not for the fear of breakouts but wrinkles...ugh aging is hard!

I don't get to stop by very often, and I rarely comment, but I had to share. http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=79531&catid=182945&aid=338666&aparam=79531 This is one of the best daily moisturizers out there. I work for a dermatologist and this is what she recommended. I've been using it for 2 years, it's very affordable, lightweight and doesn't break me out and the sunscreen is a plus. Just in case the link doesn't work, it's Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion SPF 30.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
