Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I have one New Years Resolution. I am going to compliment people more. Sometimes I am around a friend and I love their shirt, but I just never voice it. That is just one example. But, what I am saying is I want to say the things out loud that I think in my head. ( the good things, that is)

I am not one to spend a lot of money on Christmas decor. But, I splurged a bit today. Last night I went to Pottery Barn and saw these old-time Christmas plates for half off. I looked around the store and told myself I would come back tomorrow and if they were still there, I would buy them. I went back this afternoon and they had three boxes left. I felt a little bad about spending that much money on them.........half off was still high! But then I went to Williams Sonoma and saw a skillet that cost $250 dollars and then I did not feel so bad about my 8 plates for $40.

I also have a New Years tradition of buying a 12 month planner for half price. I always go on Jan 1st or 2nd and get one. The theme of this calendar is Italy. I love the beautiful pictures.

I just love those plates, Laurie. I went into Williams-Sonoma yesterday and got the best bargain on a cookie exchange kit for next Christmas - - regular price $15.00, and I paid 97 cents for it. I was thrilled because usually I go in there and come out empty-handed (too expensive!). Pottery Barn was right next door and I knew I should have gone in, especially after reading your post! Enjoy those plates, they are lovely!

I love your plates! I bought some Norman Rockwell Christmas decor, a platter and coasters and they just warm my heart thinking about past Christmases and how simple things were. Your compliment goal is great. I tend to over compliment and speak my mind too much. I leave tons of blog comments!!! LOL

I love the plates! You will enjoy them so much next year. And your resolution is a great thought; I think I'll try to follow your resolution also.

Another resolution for me is to post on blogs I read. It's so encouraging when I get a post from a blog reader. (Postive ones, of course!)

If you are ever in Memphis, you should go by the Pottery Barn and Williams & Sonoma outlet stores! I can't remember what street they are on but it's off of Poplar Ave. They always have great bargains!

Yes, I agree with Rhonda. I used to live in Memphis and would frequent the Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma outlets. It's off of Colonial I believe. There's a Target across the parking lot that you can see from Poplar.

And I love the plates! :)
I LOVE the plates, Laurie! That's an investment and not a splurge- an investment in memories and family traditions. Your girls will come to love and admire them someday.

I love those plates....how vintage. I wish I had checked out Pottery Barn after Christmas....I went in before that and bought the paper Happy Holidays Banner and used it for my fireplace (love it). I want those plates...you should give them away--LOL!!!
