Single at Christmas?

I feel like the Lord has prompted me to encourage a single girl or two today.

I remember when I was single that the holiday time was usually the hardest for me. I always wanted a man at Christmas time! I want to remind you today that God loves you more than you can ever imagine.

Have patience in waiting for God's very best for you! I promise that waiting on HIS CHOICE will be better than you can ever imagine. I always wanted to make something work out when I was lonely and that is never the wise thing to do. Let the man pursue you!

Enjoy the life God has given you today! Don't look to your future with anxiety. Rest in the fact that you have lots of wonderful things to look forward to. I can never have that first date with Steve again or our engagement, etc.

The verse that I have said over and over this week is James 4:8, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
He is the cure to your loneliness. You can have the best husband in the world and still be lonely. ONLY GOD can complete you and give you what you need.

HIS timing is always perfect. HE is never late!

Merry Christmas! Have a good weekend!

Thank you so much for this post. This applies to so many areas in life, not just waiting on a spouse, and is just what I needed to hear today. You are such a blessing.

Thank you, I so needed to read that today. I wrote down that passage and will continue to read it. I just recently finished school for the second time and will be starting my new job Monday so I'm hoping His timing will be anytime now!! Thanks again!

Oh Laurie, thank you so much! You have no idea how much these words and your thoughts mean to me (and, all of your other "single" readers!). I am a 40+ single and it gets harder and harder to remain faithful in the season of waiting and especially during the holiday season. You have made my day!

Thanks so much, Laurie! We single girls definitely need encouragement over the holidays. And I loved your story about how you and Steve met and started dating. Thanks for thinking of us even though you're happily married with sweet babies. :)

Laurie, I found you through a "friend of a friend" and have been reading your blog for more than a year. I got married 6 months ago and I think your advice (above quoted) is GENIUS. It is what happened to me. The LORD has to knock down your door with the announcement of the good strong man He has brought to woo you!!!

Laurie,
I love reading your posts (I admit- I'm a lurker!) about singleness. I needed this today. God has been reminding me that His timing is perfect, that He's never too soon or too late..just another reminder.

Love, love this! I have been married for almost four years, but it is so true that your husband can't cure loneliness. I have often looked to my husband to provide what only God can - true happiness and cure for loneliness. Thanks for the reminder! :-)

That was a great post Laurie.
Having been a "single" for many, many Christmases, 44 to be exact. I waited on the Lord and I could not be more happy I did. He did answer my prayer in His time. It is so worth waiting. Enjoy each season of life . . . it is all in God's perfect plan.

Laurie, I have been reading your blog for a while now and just love your little family. I read this a couple of weeks ago and read it again today. It is so what I needed then and today. Especially the where you talk about the man pursuing you. People tell me all the time that I am not forward enough, but I don't want to be forward. Thank you for using your blog to inspire others.

Wow thanks for the post Laurie!! I read Kelly's blog and came to your site and just looking over posts and saw this one...

I definitely struggled probably the most this Christmas more than any other because I'm at the age where everyone is getting engaged ESPECIALLY now during holiday season...

Anyway, there was a reason you felt led to post this, because I know I needed to see it...

God bless!
