Emily's Birthday Celebration

Emily thinks she is really big stuff now that she is five years old. She thought that she was going to kindergarten the day after her birthday. She said before she went to bed on her birthday, "my friends at pre-school are really going to miss tomorrow, but I will be at kindergarten." I have not let her watch Hannah Montana or I-Carley, but now she is wanting to watch it because she is 5.
Little Harper and her mama came over on Emily's B-day to bring her a present.
She loves her Mary Poppins and Alice and Wonderland movies from Aunt Kelly.
My Little Pony was her party theme. She has wanted this theme for about 11 months now!

These are her best friends. Sarah Grace, Emily, Emory, Alex, Summer and Korbyn. This is the first party that we have not invited boys.
We had Taco Bell for lunch. Emily LOVES taco Bell! She LOVES their nachos.

Sister enjoyed being with all the big girls.

The families were in town for Emily's birthday. We spent the evening at Chuck-E Cheese. I love the place myself. Steve loves to remind me of the time I pushed a little boy out of the way so I could play skee ball. I don't really think I pushed him, but I do love to play. It is good thing I am not a gambling woman or I would be in trouble. I want to play till I win or score high! I love their games.

Emily had a wonderful day from start to finish!

So sweet! Happy Birthday Emily! Too cute that she thought she was going to Kindergarten after she turned 5!
Laurie -- Your girls are absolutely adorable1 I have three daughters, ages 6 1/2, 19 months, and 4 months. I do not let them watch Hannah Montana or I-Carly either. In fact, I told my six-year-old that she can't watch those shows until she is 8 or 9. I think they are just a little too over her head at this point. Happy Birthday, Emily!

I love that you did what Emily wanted. She likes Taco Bell so you got Taco Bell. I hear about these elaborate vents for kids' birthdays... and it makes me just think that mom and dad wanted to have a party. Yay for "old school" kid parties!

What a fun age! I love that you had Taco Bell for her party. I can't wait for Amelia to be able to tell me what she wants for her birthday party theme/food. :)

I can't believe E is 5 and heading to school next year. Where has the time gone?
Your posts make me laugh and smile! Five is such a sweet age for little girls. Our girls are now 9 and 7, and I STILL don't let them watch Hannah Montana! Give me Little House and the Fairies anyday!
Bless you
Claire

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
