I wish I could say that Sarah Kate is pointing to heaven and saying "Jesus." That would be appropriate since we are celebrating His birth, but that would be a lie. She is saying," NO, NO!!!!" This her favorite thing to say lately. I don't know how to stop it. She points her chubby finger and says, "no, no" all the time. I just had to get some pictures of the girls in their new Christmas dresses before church.
How pretty! I love smocked dresses! My 18 m old is also into pointing that finger and saying "no!" I suppose she hears it often enough between her parents and older siblings!
Oh Laurie - I popped over from Kelly's blog. Your girls remind me so much of my older sister and me. Emily - sitting there perfectly and contently. And then Sarah Kate - the blonde on a mission - saying "No!! No!!" They are too cute!!
I remember 2 of my 3 going through that stage of saying "no, no". I think they just pick things up and then perseverate on them for awhile. Your girls are really beautful and precious! How sweet they are even in the midst of the "no's". Merry Christmas!!!!!
I am pretty sure that Sara Kate and my duaghter are about the same age, and Francys points her chubby little finger at everyone and shouts "no" at the top of her lungs! It makes me feel a little better to hear someone else say they are dealing with a bossy little second child too! It is tough because it's kind of funny!
Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...
Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now. Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago. We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun! No stress at all, as far as I can remember! I just played. I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year! Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons." WHAT? I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go? I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....
Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
