First Birthday Pictures!

This week, I had Sarah Kate's one year old picture made. We are two months late getting it taken. She is always bumping her head or scratching herself or a flair up with baby acne, etc. These, along with being busy delayed her one year photo shoot. I took her on Tuesday afternoon and it was an ordeal. I was worn out and sweating when it was all said and done. She would not sit, would not stay in place, tried to get away, you name it.
Here is Emily on her one year birthday.

Do you think my girls look alike????????

I think they look different, but I think they look like sisters.

I took these pics before we left the house this morning. It is soooooo hard to get them to both look at me and smile for a picture.

I think they look very different but like they are related.
I can't believe how much more hair SK has than Emily at this age. Their coloring is so different too. They are both just BEAUTIFUL!

They are enough alike to tell they are sisters and enough different to have their own identity! They are both BEAUTIFUL!! Love the pictures!

I think that their faces look a lot alike. I think that their hair and coloring are just way different. They are just too cute!! It seems from the pictures that their personalities are different, too. They are just so precious!!
Sarah Kate's one year old picture is precious (Emily's was too). I can't believe how much more hair SK has. I just love her hair & bows! I think they're different, but definitely sisters. We need to get together sometime to let SK & Wells battle it out :-)

The picture of SK is BEAUTIFUL! Of course you can't go wrong with a great subject.

I do think your girls favor, but also look different. I can't get over the difference of SK and E's hair at this age!

I think their 1 year old pics look really similar but that in real time they look different (but VERY sisterly). :-) And they are both WAY above average on the Gorgeous meter!!!!

Definitely sisters but not look alikes! It is SO hard to get kids all looking- when we added a 3rd, it got even harder (so I got a new camera! ha!)!

Both of their one year pictures are just gorgeous. I know exactly what you mean. I always leave photo sessions a hot, sweaty mess! LOL! I think I work harder than the photographer.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
