The Birthday Boy

A VERY Happy Birthday to the love of my life! I am so glad you are mine! Steve is 33 today. We celebrated tonight by eating his favorite food: STEAK!
Sarah Kate is 11 months today!
She has never been interested in T.V., but she is starting to like Barney. She is so very loving, but so very active. She likes to clap and wave bye-bye. She also enjoys attacking Emily. Sarah Kate loves to eat. (takes after her parents)
She crosses her feet all the time.
Loves her walking toy.

Emily has wanted to get her Daddy a Star Wars cakes for weeks now. Emily is very in to themed cakes. She also wanted to get her Daddy a Star Wars toy. So, we did! A Princess Leia action figure.
This is a red velvet cake from Rick's Bakery. OOHHHH SOOOO GOOD!
Also, a Happy Birthday to one of my best friends, Kelly, in Little Rock. Hope your day has been great! I love you!

Happy Birthday Steve!!!!
Scott was so jealous of the birthday dinner!
LOVE the cake - but I know it tastes even better than it looks (since I pretty much ate Half of a cake this week.)
I want to just squeeze SK to death - she is the cutest thing in the world. She just makes me smile when i look at her.
Happy Birthday to Steve! Your curtains are almost done! I know you think you are never going to get them!

Love the birthday theme . . Emily will have to join our shower planning committee ASAP. Sarah Kate is getting so big & looking so grown up. These babies need to slow down!! Wells also crosses his feet like that - how funny.

Happy birthday Steve! Ross would love the Star Wars cake too. He recently took me to the Star Trek movie. I was so stressed and said, "But I don't even like Star Trek, why am I so anxious in this movie?!" Laurie, SK is adorable. I'd love to squeeze her!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
