No Rest and Thanksgiving

I have not posted in a while and I was just hoping I would be able to report that Sarah Kate is sleeping through the night. NOPE! But....I am very encouraged with her sleeping lately. I tried a combination of just giving her water, rocking her back to sleep and crying for 5 to 15 minute intervals. She has slept 6 hours for 2 nights in the last last couple of weeks. When we went to my folks for Thanksgiving, she woke up every hour the first night. I was so tired.
On our travels to South Arkansas, we stopped at my school: Ouachita Baptist University! I love that place! I told Emily that this was mama's school and she said at least 10 times, "I want to go to Mama's school!" I hope she is still saying that 15 years from now!
My parents recently returned from Hawaii and they brought Emily this lei. She was proud.

I'm glad Emily wants to go to momma's school - she will have the best 4 years of her life! And SK and Harper will join her!
I hope SK starts sleeping more so you can get rest.

I was just about to type that JM was sleeping much better too, but he just started waking up and crying on the monitor. Eh! The last few nights he made it until 2:30 or 3:30. I guess tonight is not one of those nights. We moved his bed down one position and took out all of the bumpers so he has more room. He sleeps on his stomach and I'm a nervous wreck about it, but it helps him sleep longer!

After I talked to you a couple weeks ago, I was hoping Sarah Kate was on the road to sleeping through the night. You all look beautiful as always!

No, I take that won't sleep because you'll be worried what they doing in college!

Let's face it, a mother just doesn't EVER get enough sleep!

Love the picture of Emily in her pink lei and SK in her little dress. She looks so big sitting up!

Tonight really can't get more exciting in my blog world...first a mention on Kelly's blog and now a comment from Kelly's best friend, Laurie. You both are just loves and I treasure getting to know you both and your families.

Sarah Kate - can her name get any cuter? I've always thought about using Kate as a second name as well...what can be more southern and grand? Now we just need to get her to sleep...

Thank you SO much for your note. I have such a blessed life and like Kelly, I truly delight in my wonderous world...thank God...but I"m human and when you host your 5th baby shower (for the year) you begin to wonder if your name will ever be in the middle of an invite? Whatever the plan is, I know it is one to give me future and hope...

many hugs from OK! k

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
