God Meets Our Needs

Our church and neighborhood have been so good to us! Steve's parents left on Thursday morning after helping me out for about a week. I was so thankful to have them here. I knew I could make it with two babies, but God has not made the load too heavy. Thursday afternoon my precious friend, June, called and wanted to know if Emily would like to come play with her little girl. This was a blessing because I needed to write some thank you notes. Then on Friday afternoon another friend invited Emily over to swim and play. Again, I was able to get some much needed things done. I have another friend who is taking Emily to VBS with her and her son. See what I mean? God sends people to help us out!
I love this dress that I got at a shower. But, IT IS SO TIGHT ON HER! Bless her heart! Sometimes looking good can be very uncomfortable. Here is a must have for a newborn- "Swaddle Me" blanket. A neighbor gave me this one last week to borrow. I LOVE it! Steve calls it a straight jacket.

That dress is precious on SK! She and I can bond over the fact that our clothes are too tight. ha!
I'm glad you have had some help. I wish I could be more help. After this month - Emily is going to have her first slumber party at our house so you can get at least one night off! (And it will be fun for me!)

I love that little dress Sarah Kate is wearing. You sure have a lot of great friends! What a blessing indeed! I have never seen a blanket like that but I can see why a baby would love it!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
