Well, the house got painted yesterday and I LOVE it!  It is just very calming and will go with anything.  The painter was so efficient and nice.  I just love to have a change in my house from time to time.
In other news,  Emily has some sort of mystery illness that only happens at school.  We were home all day yesterday because the school nurse called me early Monday afternoon and said Emily had a headache and fever.  I went and picked her up and she was resting on a cot and did not look too sick to me.  The nurse said her temp was 100.4.  When we got home it was 99.1.  She said she was fine and felt good and she talked my ear off from the second I picked her up and begged to play outside.  THE EXACT thing happened one month ago.  From now on I think I will tell the nurse to just send her back to class.  STRANGE!

And some Sarah Kate funnies that I want to remember:
She calls Nilla Wafers- "Vanilla Wavers"
Depending on the weather we have here, she will say,  "Is it snowing in Kay-K's world?" or "Is it raining in Meme's world?"  They do live far away.
She calls Frisco the cat "her boy."  "Can I go hold my boy?"  or " how is my boy today?"

A BIG shout out to my Daddy on his birthday today!  I LOVE YOU!

That color is gorgeous. It makes such a difference in the way the fire place and mantel look.. Beautiful fireplace and mantel by the way.. Maybe something is happening every month at the same time during the month that is upsetting to her and she doesn't want to participitate. Just a thougth..
I love that paint color! I'm thinking of lightening up my walls too. It's so nice that you're documenting all the sweet and funny things your kids say. You'll love to look back at all those when they're older. :)

I love the paint colors! What are the colors if you don't mind me asking! Most of our downstair walls are yellow and I've been thinking of changing it up!

Looks great!
And to second what Kim said, is there something happening at school that she doesn't want to do? Sometimes those feelings can come out as an illness (human bodies are so interesting!) As long as she is acting happy otherwise, maybe it's just a not-fun activity in gym class or something. Just a thought!

Lovely new paint colors & school...Maybe have her eyes checked? I remember headaches in school until I got glasses. My little sisters went away in high school when they realigned her jaw (very drastic).

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chu

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
