Gift Review: A Few of our Favorite Things

This lip gloss is from Bath and Body Works and I LOVE it!!!!  It taste just like Doublemint gum.  It is super sweet and has a tingle to it!
American Girl's Bitty Baby for Sarah Kate.  She LOVES her and calls her by her name "Bitty Baby."  Emily loves her new Caroline doll, but has stressed because her hair has gotten messed up.  Good thing she came with a bonnet.

This works well, but the parent has to do it all and it is some trouble.  Tastes really good, though

.One of my favorite gifts:  a Bible cover

My grand daughters love Bitty Baby too. We live near Chicago so some of our favorite memories are them saving enough money to go to American Girl.

I saw something on pinterest about using liquid fabric softener and water to make a doll's hair "like new", might be worth a try. My niece loved her bitty baby too. I love your Bible cover, so pretty!

A teaspoon of Downey and water in a small spray bottle and a wire brush will make Caroline's hair look like new

My boys got that same Slurpee machine for Christmas. After using it one time, I decided it would be easier to drive to the closest Seven 11 which is about two hours away. ;-)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
