Sunday School Christmas Party

Last night we had our Sunday School Christmas party.  Despite sickness and calendar conflicts, we had a good turn out.  I am so thankful for our class.  God has blessed it so much.  We have a very special group.  We are so close and look at each other as being family.

Last year two wonderful, faithful couples moved.  It was very sad for our class.  But, God is so good,  He brought us FOUR new couples who are very faithful and involved!

 Elizabeth, Mindy and Lenette

Shelley and Kacy

Jessica and Kelly

Me and Vonda

The food last night was so good!  I had two plates of it!

If you do not attend a Sunday School class,  I want to encourage you to be a part of one. (I met Steve in Sunday School.)  You will benefit from it.  God wants you to always be learning more about Him.  The Bible tells about the importance of being with other believers.  If you have children, they need to be in Sunday School too.  They will learn about the Bible and it will help them for the rest of their lives.  Going to Sunday school will set a wonderful example for your children.  They will be around teachers that love and care for them and they will have friendships with other kids that will sustain them.  They will learn about getting along with others.

Merry Christmas!!!!

Laurie, thanks for encouraging people to go to SS!! They will learn how to study their Bible and live Christlike lives, and also make friendships for a lifetime!! Our dearest friends for over 35 years are our SS friends. They have walked through life beside us and become family. God will bless you richly, in ways you don't even know yet, for faithfully attending and taking your family to SS !!

could not agree with you more about being involved in a ss class. I love mine, wouldnt trade those sweet people for anything. We have all been there for eachother through so much. On sundays where im just tired and want to sleep in my love for my ss class and the lessons drive me to get up and get us out the door. Such an important part of your walk with jesus

Even though I really don't know you, I have been ready your blog for over a year now and I feel like we should be friends. HA You always have such wonderful thoughts and "real" life. I totally agree with you about the importance of a Sunday school class and group. I love our group at our church.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
