We Never know What Tomorrow Holds

I helped with Emily's school Christmas party this week. It was a great party! They had craft stations that were really cute and she got to make a Christmas hat.
Sarah Kate has worn this Christmas dress EVERY DAY since December 4th. Some days she wears it the whole day and some days, it is just for an hour or two or three. Sarah Kate picked out the dress at Thanksgiving and her Kay-K bought it for her. She has gotten her money's worth out of this one!!!!! Money well spent. The dress is silk and has to be dry cleaned. ha! She cried when we dropped it off at the cleaners yesterday. I figured it needed to be fresh and clean for Christmas.
All week, I had looked forward to this day because there was nothing we had to do. I was going to try to relax a little. BUT..................................at 11 last night SK started crying really hard. I could tell she had fever. I took her temp and sure enough, she had 100.7. I gave her some Motrin, but it really did not seem to help her sleep that well. She moaned off and on the rest of the night. She would yell, " NO, NO, NO"......that has always been what she does when she has an ear ache. I think it is just her way of coping with the pain. She has not had any ear infections since she got tubes. Her tubes recently came out. I called first thing this morning and got her an appointment with the pediatrician. I was right! She has an ear infection, a sore throat and swollen tonsils. The Dr. checked her for strep, but that was negative. Bless her heart, she has not felt well today, but she has been really really sweet.
My day did not go as planned. I am thankful Sarah Kate was able to be seen by a good doctor and she has taken her first dose of antibiotic and will hopefully feel good by Christmas day.

Bless her heart. I hope she feels better soon. Question: when did she get her tubes? I'm curious when Amelia's will fall out. They tell me they will but I was wondering how long they usually stay in. We haven't had an ear infection since getting them - thank the Lord!

Love that she wears her Christmas dress every day. Precious. :)

So sorry she is sick...hopefully she will feel better before Christmas! My son also got an ear infection just after his tubes fell out and according to our doctor, it isn't unusual for them to have an infection right after they fall out and then never have one again, or at least for awhile! Love that she insists on her favorite dress!

So sorry she is sick! I hope she is better for Christmas. We had a solid 5 years in a row where my oldest son had ear infections and strep and spent Christmas Eve those 5 years in the minor medical center. It's not fun and it hurts to see your babies hurt. Daniel had his tonsils removed after battling with that for a while and it helped both his ears and his throat. Best thing we ever did.
Merry Christmas!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
