Nursery Tour

I am so grateful because two of my friends really got me set up with this nursery. My friend Kelly is letting me borrow the crib. My friend Beth let me borrow the bee pattern, along with lamp, curtains, table. diaper stacker, bee hive, etc. I went to visit Beth in Franklin, Tn when I was about 15 weeks pregnant and I brought ALL that stuff home on a plane. It was terrible carrying the table through the airport but, so worth it after everything was put together. Thank you Beth and Kelly! I really have a hodge podge of things in the room. If I think it is cute, I put it in there.

You should be able to find alot about the angel care monitor here...but I want to share with you what I know.

It is a monitoring system, but better than that detects when there in no movement in the crib for 15 seconds. An alarm goes off that is VERY loud and will wake you no matter what. Basically it works just like a monitor, but it has a sensor pad that goes under the mattress and is connected into the monitor where the baby is sleeping. We used this in our cradle and then moved it into her bed with her. She is still sleeping on it. We have only had one false alarm and that was the third night we were home. It went off in the early morning hours because a wire had come loose due to our dog. However, it went off and it woke us from a dead sleep.

We have NEVER worried about Emma when she sleeps or that she would stop breathing. I have felt so safe and secure with this and encourage everyone I know that is pregnant to register or buy one. It is so worth it in so many ways and actually just takes the place of your regular monitor. The monitors are portable just like normal ones.

Ours was actually purchased from Babies R Us.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Very cute, Laurie!
Yep...we have the same crib! SK's nursery is adorable and I just love the book rack on the wall. I've seen it before and want to purchase something similar for our little guy's room.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
