Packaging is Everything!

When I was a little girl, my Aunt and Uncle lived in Natchez Mississippi. On one of our visits, I found Sea Monkeys at a local drugstore. My parents bought them for me and I LOVED them. I think I got my first Sea Monkeys in the third grade. I think I owned Sea Monkeys till I was in fifth grade. A friend came over to play one day(fifth grade) and knocked the Sea Monkeys off my dresser. I will never forget the day. I was SOOOO ANGRY at my friend. She did not mean to do it! It was just an accident. That day ended my love for owning Sea Monkeys. One day this week I took the girls to Wal-Mart with me. Of course our first stop was the toy department. I saw SEA MONKEYS. When I was a little girl, Walmart did not sell them. They were hard to find. The only place I ever saw them was at the Mississippi drugstore (I think it must have been Wal-Greens) and a toy store in Little Rock. I showed my girls the Sea-Monkey package and they were not too thrilled. Once Emily held the packa

Playgroup

I took the girls to get doughnuts decorated as pumpkins. They LOVE doughnuts! That is one food I can do without. They were a huge mess!!!!! My talented friend Tracy did playgroup today. She always goes all out and is always sooo organized. All the kids had a wonderful time!!!!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

I mentioned yesterday that our air conditioner had gone out. Well, a repair man came last night and found that we had a spider in" something other ", that was blocking the air-flow. He got the spider out and within an hour, our a/c was doing what it was supposed to do! We had to pay for the service call, but he said he could not charge us for removing a spider. We are soooooo thankful that this was all it was. This is not the spider! Ha! This is Emily's ring. Sarah Kate is looking at the t.v., pointing and saying,"I want that!" They say that about EVERY toy commercial they see these days.

Just Another Day in October

Emily went to a Birthday party yesterday for one of her school friends. They got to paint a piece of pottery. Emily picked a squirrel. I thought the squirrel was really cute! I envisioned Emily painting it in shades of brown and black. Oh well......she wanted it to be a rainbow squirrel. But, she is soooooooo soooooooooo proud of her work. She slept with it last night and wanted to take it to school. I would not let her. She wants to invite her teacher over to our house to see her squirrel. Emily has been wearing her Halloween costume around the house. She is going to be Pinkalious riding a pink unicorn. She can't wait!!! I took the girls to a pumpkin patch on Saturday and the minute we parked, it started raining. I got these pictures and we left. Sarah Kate has a blurred face because I got rain on the lens. More October craziness: I had to take Emily to the doctor on Thursday. She was having some issues that really gave us a scare. She is doing fine now. Our air cond

My Look- Alikes

I taught elementary art for twelve years. In that time, I met all kinds of children. Since I taught art, I had every child in the school. Towards the end of my teaching career, I got a 4th grade boy that was new to the town and new to our school. He was a good looking kid and full of self-confidence. On his first day in my room, I was introducing myself and asking him about himself. As we were talking he said, "Hey. were you the girl in Planet of the Apes?" I don't think he was trying to be rude or smart. I looked him in the eye and said, "yes, I was in that movie." He was amazed-thrilled. After the students got started on their art I leaped over to the computer and found this beautiful ape girl. If that did not boost my self esteem, I don't know what would. Ha! I printed this picture, took it over to him and he said,"cool!" He looked the picture over and then he looked me over. I told him that no, I was not in that movie but I gues

Rest for the Weary

Steve and I were able to get away from our October crazies to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have been married six years as of October 16! We spent a few days in Nassau Bahamas. Our best friends, Kelly and Scott went with us. We all had a great time enjoying the beautiful sights and enjoying being together. We had lots of good laughs on our trip. Kelly, Scott and Steve are all a lot of fun! I have to say, it was nice not having to worry about cooking, washing, ironing , and children for a few days. I needed a little getaway. I did not have any trouble with my tooth. I was soooooo thankful for that. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here we are on our anniversary. We went to this same resort for our honeymoon. It was neat to reflect on how our lives have changed in the last six years. What a blessing to have friends that we can totally be ourselves with! My view from the plane. I will post more later, but I am tired. We made it back , but our bags did not. Hopefully

Here We Go Again!

October has become a scary month for us. Last October: I had a tooth infection that seemed to never end. I had two root canals on the same tooth. I got a staph infection in my finger. It healed after taking 6 antibiotics and a lot of prayer. The WHOLE family got the stomach virus. Sarah Kate cut her finger and we had to go to the E.R. Both girls had ear infections. Fast forward to this year: I get another tooth infection in another tooth. I have a root canal. My mouth is still "not right." A man hits my car in the Walmart parking lot. Last night, Sarah Kate cut her eye in the bath tub. We went to the E.R. and three hours later they glued her cut back together. I said it before and I will say it again, I am going to go on a month long vacation on an island every October. My Tooth update: The Dentist called me back about my tooth pain. He was very nice and said that I should get better everyday. He said that this was not uncommon. I am clenching my teeth real bad at n

Dentures are Looking Better Everyday!

I hate to complain, but I am still in pain after my root canal. A root canal is meant to relieve pain. In the procedure, they take the nerve and pulp out of the tooth. WHY AM I STILL HURTING SO BAD? I have made a call to my dentist. Hopefully I will hear from him soon! Dentures are looking more appealing by the hour. Also, on a sad note, I don't think it is meant for me to watch Little House on the Prairie anymore. I can't find it anymore. Martha Stewart has taken over the Hallmark channel. Do you know if any of the channels have the show anymore? Another random thing: Emily has become the big eater in our family. She used to take about 7 bites per day. Now, she cannot get enough to eat. A mama likes for her babies to eat! We are thrilled about this new found appetite. On the other hand, Sarah Kate has become the picky eater. The only thing she really wants to eat is bread. Thank you to those who read my blog. I love your comments too! You all have taught me so

Show Us Your Life-Kitchens

I am very thankful for a nice, spacious kitchen. I love food, Steve loves food and we both like to cook. We spend lots of time in our kitchen. I love my pantry. When we were looking to buy this house, a lot of the houses we looked at did not have a pantry. This black shelf belonged to my Grandmother. It was yellow when she had it. I painted it black when we moved into this house. My talented friend Amanda made my kitchen curtains. I love them! I recently got this Scentsy! It was a wise purchase. I LOVE it! They work really well. I don't have to worry as much about burning our house down with a candle. I love this sign! Ha ha!
