Just Another Day in October

Emily went to a Birthday party yesterday for one of her school friends. They got to paint a piece of pottery. Emily picked a squirrel. I thought the squirrel was really cute! I envisioned Emily painting it in shades of brown and black. Oh well......she wanted it to be a rainbow squirrel. But, she is soooooooo soooooooooo proud of her work. She slept with it last night and wanted to take it to school. I would not let her. She wants to invite her teacher over to our house to see her squirrel.

Emily has been wearing her Halloween costume around the house. She is going to be Pinkalious riding a pink unicorn. She can't wait!!!

I took the girls to a pumpkin patch on Saturday and the minute we parked, it started raining. I got these pictures and we left. Sarah Kate has a blurred face because I got rain on the lens.

More October craziness:
I had to take Emily to the doctor on Thursday. She was having some issues that really gave us a scare. She is doing fine now.
Our air conditioner went out yesterday. The timing of this is a blessing because it is not that warm here.

I am happy to say that "Little House of Fairies" is back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Emily thinks that is the name of the show.

I love he squirrel! It is beautiful!! Sorry to hear about Emily being ill, and your AC foing up!! It is still in the 90's here, so I would not make it without my AC! I think October is horrible for you, and it definitely should be bypassed!! :)

I am having October trouble as well. I have hit stationary objects and messed my car up 3 times in the past week. I kind of have an excuse because I am pregnant, but still I can't believe myself. I feel like I am 16again especially since I had to ask my dad to fix my car.

Little House of Fairies!!! I love it!!! I have never really watched it (gasp! I know...) but I went to church with the parents of one of the actors in it. His name was Stan Ivar and he played John Carter. I always thought it was so cool when he came to visit his parents and went to church with us!

I just love these posts- I suppose because I can relate so well! Our art teacher was aghast when my son painted the pretty blue pond with a fish in it black, but he simply told me to translate to her that it was dirty water and you couldn't see the fish anymore. I'm hoping I don't have to attend a silly luncheon today so I can go to a market in one part of town where I heard they have pumpkins- it's so hard to find one here.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
