Best Gift EVER!!!!!!!

The Surprise of my life!  That is what yesterday was for me!  Kelly threw me a 40th surprise birthday party.  She really got me!  She had told me that she was inviting two of our friends over for a birthday lunch.  We are the same ones that always get together for birthdays.  She really threw me off on Monday when she texted and told me that she had also invited my friend, Tracy.  I just thought I was going for a party of four.
Steve had asked me on Sunday if I was sad that there was not going to be any 40th party for me.  I told him no, "just acknowledge my birthday and let me eat shrimp"
As I walked into Kelly's house, all I could do was laugh.  She had a huge spread and decor on her dining table. I KNEW that that was not just for 5 girls.  I walked into her kitchen and was greeted with "surprise" and most all of my best friends.  I was just blown away!!!!!!!
It took me a while to see everyone there.  I yelled out,"Hillary?"  I could not believe that she had driven three hours to be there.  I could not believe my friend Kim had taken off a day at work to be there.  Another surprise was my friend Beth, from my childhood.  She lives here now.  She had done so good at keeping the secret from me!  All the other girls were church friends.
I LOVE these girls!  I really do!  They have brought so much good to my life!!!!!!  Kelly worked so hard to make the day just PERFECT!!!!  The best gift I have ever gotten was a book that Kelly put together of letters these girls had written to me or about me.  I will cherish it always!!!!  It is going in a box with all the other important treasures. Kelly even had girls write letters that could not be there or lived out of town.
I felt SOOOOO LOVED!  I will never ever forget this.  It was one of the best days of my life!  I am still smiling about it!!!!
As I was looking at these pictures, I was thinking about how each girl truly loves the Lord and lives for Him!!!!!  They are true followers of Christ and true friends!  I will be forever grateful!
I just can't thank Kelly enough for doing this for me!!!! It has been my most special birthday EVER!!!!!   My birthday is actually on April Fool's DAY!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
