In mid July, Emily asked Jesus into her heart in the car as we were driving home from a friend's house. She is only five years old. We KNOW that she does not understand everything about salvation, but we know that this a BIG step toward God for her. We have been talking to her about it and are planning to speak with one of our pastors very soon.
Jesus, Heaven and Hell are on her mind a lot. She has LOTS and LOTS of questions.
Fast forward to last week at school.
She got in the car and said, "MOM, a boy at my table said, butt!" You would have thought this were the worst word in the world. Her eyes were big as saucers as she told me. "He cussed,"
I just said, "hummmm, well............"
Emily said, " I told him that was a cuss word and that he would go to hell." The boy told her that his mama told him that he can say butt and that SHE (Emily) had said a cuss word: hell.
Then Emily said, "Mom I didn't know what to say, so I pointed down and told him that he would be going down there with the devil."
She then told him that he could go to heaven. "I told him that he needed to ask Jesus in his heart and he would go to heaven when he dies."
I asked her what the boy said. She replied, "he said that he did not know that." I told him to just ask Jesus in."
I can't tell you how proud I was of Emily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was beaming.
Now.......was her theology correct? NO! Does cussing send you to hell? NO!! Was her scare tactic the correct approach? Probably not!
But she loves Jesus in the way that a little five year old girl can. Child like faith!
I pray that she will never stop telling others about Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so thankful for her boldness.

I learned a long time ago, that when a child is ready to accept Christ, do not stop them. They may not have all the i's dotted and t's crossed, but they know they love the Lord and want to share. Emily is ready. The rest will come. What a joyous occasion. You and Steve are Godly examples of Christian parents.

Alex tells a story about when he was little and locked his younger cousin in the closet until he agreed to accept Jesus as his Saviour. LOL Makes me laugh every time I think about it.
