A New Start

Sarah Kate started preschool this past week. Her teacher said that she was real sweet. I pray it will continue. She LOVES school and being with other children.
Here she is with her friend, Charlotte. These girls were in class together last year and loved each other.
We are trying dance again this year. The girls are in the same class. SK has two of her good friends in the class. Emily was worried that she would not have a friend in the class. The Lord worked it out for her! One of her close friends from preschool and kindergarten is in her class. We did not know until she got there that she was taking Emily's same class. Yay!

We may be buying the dance studio a new bar. Sarah Kate enjoyed swinging around on it like a monkey.

Does Emily still like to dance as much as she use to? Love seeing them in a class together! I hope Harper can take dance too but I KNOW she would swing on the bar!!!

Laurie, just read about your dad on Kelly's blog. Please know you and your family, particularly your dad, are in my thoughts and prayers.

I know you are scared...but remember to stop and feel God's love surrounding you.

Praying for your daddy! I'm a daddy's girl so I have this great fear of anything happening to him... he's battled cancer and has some other health problems so I KNOW what you're going through. Much love and big hugs but more importantly, praying that our Heavenly Father holds you really close while you're facing a time of uncertainty with your earthly daddy.
*hugs*

Laurie, heard about your daddy. I am so so sorry for all your family and esp your dad is going through right now. I have been there, friend. I have been with my dad through 2 heart bypass operations (17 ys apart), the first a quadruple, the second a triple. So I know how hard it is. BTW, he is still ticking along! It's been 5 ys, almost 6 since his 2nd bypass. Please know you and your family are HEAVY on my heart and also in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Lean on God - He will carry you, as you know. Your precious daddy is well on his way to being HEALTHIER - praise God for that! You will get through the next few days, just hold on. You can do it! Praying for you in SC!!!!
Much love,
Laurie

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
