The Past Few Days

While I was at home we attended a lovely wedding. Here is Meme with her girls at the wedding.
One of my best friends, Kelly with SK. Kelly is soooo good with children. She is a pre-K teacher and my girls LOVE her!
Kelly, Eric, Lauren and Logan.
Sarah Kate wanted to hold this baby soooooo bad at the wedding. She asked his grandmother several times why she could not hold the baby. She LOVES babies, just like her mother.
This is Kelly's sister, Meredith. My girls love her too.
My parents wonderful pastor and his wife. I LOVE to hear him preach when I am at home.

When have just finished up a time of testimony sharing over the past 7 weeks. To say it has been wonderful is an understatement. It has been a tremendous blessing to those who have shared and to those who have attended. We have learned so much about each other and about the Lord. I love seeing how God has had His hand of these ladies lives and how He drew them to Himself. I am sad that it is over. I LOVE my church and I am so thankful to all the women that are such role-models to me.

Yesterday, I joined Kelly (above) and her children at the Little Rock zoo. OHHHHH the FUN!!!!!! It was so interesting. I think I had more fun than the kids. I had not been to the LR zoo since like the 8th grade. It is really nice because you can be so close to many of the animals. I do not have one picture to show for it because I left my camera battery in my car. Uhggg...... Sarah Kate is a bit afraid of animals and she was pretty much a nervous wreck the whole time. Some of the animals were a little too close for comfort to her. I want to go back on a cooler day.

Nothing like a weekend at home with family & good friends!!
Stay cool outside!
I hope there were not any crazy birds @ the zoo!
If you REALLY want to go to a zoo with live monkeys, come visit me in Florida at my house--I have 2 boys. And it's air conditioned. HA!
We went to the LR zoo this week too and it was SOOOOOO hooot!!!! It is much better when it is cooler!!:))

Laurie, not to scare you, but as a fellow bird hater I have to tell you they have this cage like area that you walk into and it has like 1,000 birds everywhere. My friends dragged me into it one time and I was SOO scared. They also have a part in the reptile house that you walk through and birds are just walking around. Eeek!!!! No thank you!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
