Little House on the Prairie

There is a good reason that I always take so many pictures of Sarah Kate in her high-chair: It is the only place she sits still for a picture. She can't get away. Excuse the banana on her upper lip.
Sarah Kate with the food she could eat all day, everyday: A Ritz cracker

Emily posing for the camera.

I have to share some exciting news!!!!!!!!! Little House on the Prairie began airing at 5:00 p.m. on TV Land last Monday. I can't tell you how thrilled I am!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is my all-time FAVORITE T.V. show. In my opinion, it is the best show ever. In most all the episodes, they pray, mention Jesus, go to church, teach a life lesson. The children say, "yes, mam" and "yes, sir" Emily likes the show too. But, her favorite character is Nellie. She calls her the "mean girl." I will work on this.

I wish there were more shows like Little House.

They just don't make shows like that anymore but thank goodness for reruns. I was thinking I might try to buy the series in a few years for me and Harper to watch together!

L...we were seperated at birth. I used to play LHOP all the time! Mom was Mrs. Olsen...perfect...and I was Laura....and I had the costume and all. And, our tree house had a ladder and I would pretend it was my bedroom like they climbed up. I have watched everyone. everyone.
I remember watching every week with my Mom when I was young. I LOVED it!

I used to love Little House too, maybe that's why I love log cabins! Maybe now that it's at 5 PM, a whole new generation will fall in love with it. It's available at Amazon.com if you type in "Little House on the Prairie DVD." BTW, don't be chawed about your fizzle dust, it always looks great!

The one thing you forgot is included in ever Little House episode...someone or some animal almost dying!!!!! My sister loves that show and I can remember thinking this is the saddest show! But, I agree...it is a family friendly show.

I love that show too! There is just not much out there you can watch as a family anymore. They don't make 'em like they used to.

I love it too, Laurie! It's been a while since I've watched them. They just leave you feeling good!
I read every Little House on the Prairie book there was. I watched the show every day after school. And, my mom took me to Laura Ingalls Wilder's house in Mansfield, Missouri. We should plan a field trip (we could also eat at Lambert's)!

Oh, I adore Little House! Such a cute storyline with great lessons. When I was in third grade I became obsessed with the books and still own most of them... and having a TV series to watch now is even better!
Get the pics while you can! Super cute:)

HA HA!!! I LOVE Little House!!! Here in Houston it's on the Hallmark channel during the week from 2-3. I watch when I can...my brother even loves this show, probably because we grew up watching it...so we'll be talking on the phone and he'll say, "gotta go, Little House is on" makes me laugh.

My Mom used to say, "When Pa cries, everyone cries." so true...I'm balling all of the time from that show...sooooo good

This is also my favorite show. I remember I always had my hair in Laura Ingalls plaits and I loved reading the books over and over again. I actually bought a dvd of episodes shopping today and then came home and read your post, it is a small world.
I absolutely love Little House! When we were in Myrtle Beach this Summer, we would watch it in the morning when it was on. It was so great to catch up on an old childhood favorite. I agree, we need more shows like that on now adays!

I too loved LHOP and am now watching it on DVD with my 9 year old. I loved the simple life and loved to hate Nellie Olsen.

Little House on the Prairie has been one of my favorites since childhood. I decided to TiVo it in hopes of catching some episodes to watch with my son. Luckily, it comes on at all hours of the day and night! We get LOTS of episodes and my son and I LOVE watching them together. If you've got TiVo get a season pass and you'll get lots of episodes to watch. Now...if someone would only start showing the Waltons! I would love to watch that with my son as well.

Forgot to say that Little House on the Prairie the Musical will be at the Walton Arts Center in January. I'll be taking my son to that. Melissa Gilbert will play Ma. I wonder how well she can sing. :)

Sarah Kate is getting so big. Her hair is so pretty.
My mother could sit and watch Little House all day and night.=)
I love that show too! I've watched every episode, but the boys don't like it. Maybe I will get to watch it with Arden in a few years. It also comes on Hallmark Channel here (if you get that channel) weekdays at 1, 2, and 3.

I came across your blog from another and the title just lured me in. I always watched "Little House" and recently my 1st grader got the first few books from the series! We love to read them! Also, I noticed that LH is on right after schoo! I also think it's a great learning show! Hooray for Laura and family! :)

Laurie - I'm so excited that it's on after work! The only time it's usually on (on the channels I get, anyway) is while I'm at work.

Growing up, I wasn't allowed to watch much TV, but I could watch this. I became a bit...obsessed. I knew all the episodes by heart - including titles. When I moved to college, my roommates used to send me out of the room when the episode started, look at the title of the show, call me in, and time me to see how long it would take me to guess it. My average time was under five seconds. I'm not that good anymore, but those were the DAYS!!

My Mom read all of the LHOTP books to my sister and I when we were little, then I read Janette Oake's books on my own once I was older. I just love that time period. I know I could have lived then and I would have loved it. They really know what hard work is. I am also glad to be able to watch the series on TV again. Thanks for the tip.

My daughter knows the theme song and says all sing-songy, "it's your favorite show!!" LHOP used to be on here at 1 and 2- I will admit that nap and "room time" often coincided with LHOP!!

It's also the Hallmark Channel but I think it just stopped coming on. I've been DVRing it for my 4 year old who LOVES it. She has a bonnet and apron and dresses up and pretends to be Mary all the time! You can buy the series as well! We have 1 box set.

I am a Home Health Aide and me and the lady i care for used to watch them everyday starting at 1pm - 4pm on the hallmark channel, until they stopped showing them last Monday, and just showed 1 episode on TV Land at 5pm. Girl, I love me some LHOTP! I think it is coming to the Rep this season and Melissa Gilbert is playing Ma. I can't wait! EG is wanting to wear her hair in braids and it reminds me of Laura. LOVE IT!

I have all the seasons on DVD if you want to borrow them sometime. I watched them with the girls about 3 or 4 years ago and they loved them as much as I did.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
