One year ago, the highway that we live on began a construction project. The intention was to make our two lane highway a five lane. We were so excited to have the five lane because our highway was bumper to bumper traffic in the morning and late afternoons.
To get to the good, we have had to go through the bad. When I say the bad, I mean snail traffic. I could walk down the highway faster than I could drive down it. There have been many days that we have had to drive down one lane. Some poor man would be standing there with a c.b. and stop sign letting one lane go at a time. I have been late so may times this past year.
They have taped and re-taped and and painted and repainted so many lanes and arrows this year. They had to make the road work according to what construction had been done. Many times I questioned to myself and to Steve how this was going to work. It seemed to me that some on the lanes were not starting and stopping at the right place. It seemed to me it would surely be a disaster when it was all completed. I was afraid traffic would get bottle necked and all that. They even moved a couple of traffics lights to different areas of the highway. Many times, one lane was about two feet higher than the other and I figured we would just forever be driving two feet higher than the opposite lane of traffic. Someway, somehow, without me even noticing these things that seemed like problems disappeared. Roads got level, lanes got right, traffics lights got timed correctly. I don't know how it happened, but it did.
Often times I would see men dressed in suits out visiting with the construction workers. I knew these were the master planners. They had everything under control. They had a perfect plan. I could not see it or understand it, but all these men knew what they were doing. They could see the big pictures.
And so it is with those who have a relationship with Christ. Sometimes we have to go down a long and broken road. A road that frustrates us and depresses us. A road that we don't understand. A road that we did not see coming.
BUT...we have a master planner, One who loves us more than we can understand. One who has a good plan. One who wants to make us better. One who is in control. One who is kind, patient and understanding. One who is never surprised.
Isaiah 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who LOVE HIM, who have been called according to His purpose.

I'm one of those who needs constant direction!!
Great post Laurie!
This was just incredible. I'm having the same exact thing happen miles from my home, and in my life too.
What an amazing analogy.
Thanks so much♥
