Superbowl and Super Sick

Steve and I hosted our Sunday School class Superbowl party last weekend. We had a good group and I think everyone had a good time. All the girls talked and never even looked at the game. We always enjoy getting to know each other better.

Monday night Sarah Kate started feeling really bad. So bad, that she asked to go to bed at 6:00. I KNEW she had to be low sick. Her temperature was 102. It even got to over 103 a couple of times. She was diagnosed on Tuesday with strep throat. We have never had that at our house before. She has been MISERABLE. The funny thing about her is that she will never admit to being sick or feeling bad. I would tell her this week that I was sorry she felt so bad and she would scream at me saying, "I AM NOT SICK, I FEEL GOOD!!!!!!" One time when she said this I checked her temp. and it was 102.2. She did not eat one bite Monday night Tuesday or Wed. She said her "tummy was full and she felt good!!!"
I THINK she is doing better. She was still running fever last night, but woke up this morning fever free!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to admit I'm like SK. I get mad when I am sick and deny to the bitter end that I am sick! I'm glad she is on the mend!

SK must be related in some way to Lance. Once he was laying on our bed, got up and vomited all over the bed next to our wall. He then claimed to feel just fine. He refuses to be sick. I, on the other hand, can have a hang nail and feel the need for Tylenol all day. Lowrey is just like SK. She had pneumonia one time and I did not know it. Watch out. I sure hope she is better soon!

Hugs to your little one. Strep is nook pollo fun! Replace her toothbrush as you don't wantnto take a chance of the strep germs being on it and it coming back.

I'm like Sarah Kate, wouldn't admit when I'm feeling sick though but my family figure out later that I am really sick though.

Poor SK. Amelia has had strep so many times and it is NO FUN. Once she stops sleeping, I know something is wrong. The one time I had it as an adult, I was SO SICK. Lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks because I couldn't eat. Praying it is gone for good and your sweet girl is truly better. :)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
