Our Goings On

When I was a little girl, I LOVED little tiny baby dolls more then anything!!!!! I adored baby dolls and the smaller, the better! I still have most of them. Today I went to a local school supply store and saw this tiny baby as I was checking out. I BOUGHT IT! I tried to pretend it was for Sarah Kate, and I did give it to her, but it was really for me.
Emily is so proud of these plates she designed for her family. I thought they were mighty cute!
All Christians Praying: I have to take Kristen to the vet soon. This will be an all day event. I am praying now that I can get her in her cat carrier. I usually have to capture her in a pillow case and lower her inside the carrier. The cat clinic has to call in all personnel to help. They will have to bring out the armored blanket to examine her.

I laughed when you told about Kristen and the vet. A kitty we had been fostering for a rescue came down with a disease I had never heard of. My vet called around and we had to transport the other 4 cats to a cat clinic in another town because they were the only one with the vaccine. While there, someone had a cat that you could hear howling and howling. The tech came out with this huge gloves on that looked like huge potholder mitts and she looked like she had been pulled backwards through a small hole. I sat there stunned and she said, 'You don't know how lucky you are.' I have never forgotten the visual of this harried vet tech!

I really had to laugh at your description of taking your kitty to the vet. We have 2 cats and our girl kitty is JUST LIKE THAT. The last visit was horrible, for her and for us. The vet sent a special cat carrier home for us to transport her in, that was made of plexiglass. It had a top that lowered to hold her still, and holes in the sides for the vet to give her the shots. She was quite traumatized, as were we. But....she didn't bite or claw anyone and she did get her shots!

I wonder if your vet could give you some valium to give to your cat...sounds totally crazy I know...but I had a cat that was the same way...oh it was horrible to get her in the carrier.

Our cat is the exact same way. It takes the vet and three assistants to hold him down and that is after giving him tranquilizers. They use the big potholder armmits and everything. He growls and hisses and moans the whole time. The vet said she is most scared of our cat than any other animal she has seen. Luckily he is great with us and our kids :)

Emily is an amazing artist. That cat is awesome. She will be on etsy before we know selling her stuff.

Laurie....you have to capture her in a pillow case?? I'm laughing out loud. Maybe the vet will tell you Kristen needs to be released into the wild...where she belongs. I kid....well you know I'm not kidding. :)

Ok friend, that tiny baby is just creepy to me! You are funny!

I wish I could help you with Kristen! Have you tried giving her a little bit of Benedryl before putting her in the carrier? I don't know how in you would get her to take Benedryl but it works to knock them out a little. ha ha ha!
Let me know if you need help.

I hope you managed to get Kristen to the vet and back again without losing any fingers, haha!

She looks like such a sweet cat, but if she's anything like mine, she goes nuts when she spots the cat carrier!

Kristen may need a little tranquilizer sprinkled on her food before her vet visit...I know I would need one if I were taking her!
I am so glad I found your blog over a year ago! I never comment but COULD.NOT.RESIST! The bitty babies are so cute and remind me of myself! The whole cat situation is enough to make my day!!! Have a great weekend!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
