Anniversary Weekend

This weekend Steve and I celebrated 7 years of marriage. We left here on Friday and drove to Steve's parents house, just outside of Memphis. On Saturday, we went to Tupelo, Ms to meet up with one of Steve's best friends, Paul. He and his wife live in Starkville and both work for MSU.
Paul and his wife, Bobbie have one son, Clay. They are some of THE NICEST people you will ever meet. Paul was in our wedding. We ate at Red Lobster and the kids got to meet a lobster while we waited on our table.

Clay was so well-behaved and my girls loved being around him.
I rode a little train in the mall with the girls.
Here we are on our anniversary at Granny's house for lunch. Best food in the world!!!
This is Carrington and her mom, Jennifer.
The girls got to ride on a mule and go feed the catfish. Memories in the making!

Loving on Granny.
Precious Sam Henry.
Steve and I left Granny's and went to downtown Memphis to stay at the Peabody. The place is beautiful!!!!! I spotted James Taylor's guitar on the wall of a dress shop there in the hotel. I LOVE his music!
Before our dinner on Sunday night.
We ate at a really nice place, but I did NOT like what I ordered. I am just NOT a fancy food kind of girl! I am happy with a $3 chicken fried steak from Braum's or KFC.
We had breakfast in a neat place, but the atmosphere was MUCH better than the food. I enjoyed my dates with Steve. We had a lot of fun together on our get away!
This is inside the Peabody Hotel. I felt like I was boarding the Titanic. It is such a beautiful place and was built in the late 1800s.
Steve's parents were so kind to keep our girls and the girls had a great time.

I am so thankful to be married to a wonderful man. He is so good and kind to me and makes me laugh. I am blessed!

Laurie, i totally agree with you about fancy/expensive food. sometimes braums or something simple beats fancy everytime. The Peabody is gorgeous, I enjoyed getting to see it when I went years ago. Glad you had a great time.

This is not related to your post at all, but I just saw a preview on Animal Planet for a show called "My Extreme Animal Phobia." I think we should recommend you for some bird treatment! ; )

How fun! I know exactly where Tupelo is- My grandparents lives in Amory (it's about 45 minutes from there) and I grew up visiting the Peabody (waching the ducks). Glad you guys had fun! I read your blog all the time but never comment- I love your family! :)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
