My Phone

Poor little Sarah Kate is sick this week. She has fever. We went to the MD yesterday. She has no real diagnosis. She does seem better today. Bless her sweet heart.

I have moved on up in technology! I just got rid of this phone on Saturday. I know I have had it 10 years and I think even longer. I LOVED this phone. It had the best reception in the world. I HAD to get a new one because it just died and they don't even make parts for it anymore. Steve has had several fancy, expensive phones, but none did as well as mine. Yes, I have had many opportunities to upgrade, but I just have never wanted to. When you find a good thing, stick with it! It was so easy to use and because it was so chunky, I could put it on my shoulder and talk hands free. As for the new phone, we are trying to bond. I hear myself echoing when I talk, it is too thin to rest on my shoulder. About all I can do on it so far is answer and dial numbers. That is all. Steve is going to give me a lesson on it in the next day or two. When I went to the AT&T store on Sat., I told the sweet lady waiting on me that I wanted a phone that took pictures. She looked at me with kind sympathy and said," they all do that now." I had no idea.
Laurie's old faithful phone. Circa 1999.

I know the feeling. I've always had simple and easy to use cell phones. Up until this past March my fiance got us blackberry's and I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. I can call, answer, text, take picture, and that is about it. Althought it has a 100 other things it can do...lol. What phone did you go with?
PRAISE JESUS - Laurie has stepped into the 20th century! Maybe one day I'll get a text from you and I might pass out!
Oh Laurie, I know the feeling. I loved my last phone and after it passed, I didn't know what to do. Mike & AT&T had made some kind of crazy deal that had a million year contract involved, so I got his hand me down Blackberry. I don't understand half the things it does & don't want to. I also didn't get the internet on it because then I would never get anything done!

Oh my word! You are too funny! Don't feel bad. I had the same phone for 4 years until Josh finally bought me a new one because my old one wouldn't text. That was when I was in college. Since then I have only had 2 other phones. I kind of get attached and honestly, Brody is going to beat them up anyway so I don't think I need a very nie one!:)
Hiliarious about the AT&T store! don't worry you will bond soon!

Laurie, my husband has the same phone and loves it. We were visiting a good friend of his from pilot training and when he saw it, he went nuts- he also loved that model. And they said the exact same thing- it works so well and they didn't want all the bells and whistles (their C-130s are also of the same vintage so perhaps they're partial to old, decrepit technology!).

Hope your little one feels better- that makes it rough on mama, too!

I finally gave in last year...I hated it. I miss my old SO much. I've had the same number since 1999. And since then only one other phone...I was happy. Everyone made fun of me...I changed. And hate it. I love you!

I'm laughing out loud at your old phone because mine is just one step up from yours! It gets wonderful reception and I love the texting on it. I refuse to give it up until it dies!

I'm laughing because I too had the same phone! It actually still works but I don't use it anymore. It is having some speaker problems. Now we keep it as a back up for when other phone decide to die.

Good luck on learning your new phone.

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
