Two Months Old

Baby Sarah Kate was two months old yesterday. And...on her two month birthday, she slept 8 hours last night! I feel so good today! I have not said anything about this lately, but Emily has still been having LOTS of trouble staying in her bed. I started using a gate about 3 weeks ago and THAT was the answer. She has not gotten up one time this week in the afternoon or at night. This is a huge praise for us. If you looked on Kelly's Korner, you saw Emily visiting the wedding dress store. She had the time of her life. She has not stopped talking about it.

I think we have gotten through the bed time troubles, now we must conquer potty training and getting rid of her pacifer, known as "cissy."

I found your blog through Kelly's. If you are going to potty train you need to get the Potty Monkey. YOu can find it online or at some Toys R Us stores. It's a monkey that's a timer and lets them know to go to the potty every 30 minutes at first. If you read the book and follow it - it WILL work. I potty trained my twin girls in a weekend - promise.

I'll never forget how we got rid of Chris' pacifier. We were driving along the highway and I can't remember exactly how it happened but "MR PACY" got tossed out of the window and was GONE!!
No more "MR. PACY" and Chris never mentioned it again!

Unfortunately, I never let Kelly have a pacifier and she found her thumb at about 6 weeks and we couldn't throw it out the car window!!

I loved Emily's picture dressed up like a bride. I can totally understand why you got teary eyed! Ella Grace is getting a big bed soon and I'm SO worried about her getting up and out of it. I will definitely remember the gate trick, and we are right behind you on the potty. Fun fun!

Your girls are so adorable everytime!!!!

I don't have kidos so I hesitate to give advice. But when my niece was a baby, Bryan and I were in the backseat with her and He pretended to throw the pacifier out the window and it worked for her.

right there with ya! We have to get rid of the paci, known as "baba" around here. She only takes it at bedtime, but that's got to go too......oh how I dread it! Good luck!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
