I'm Back

I have not blogged in a while. There are several reasons for this: 1. Steve got a new fandagled computer that has intimidated me with picture posting. 2. I have a had terrible cold that I STILL have and it goes from bad to worse and back again. 3. Emily is still not sleeping in her big girl bed. I am battling her for 2 hours or so in the afternoon to get her to take a nap. Now, she gets under the new dining room table so I can't get her. It makes me CRAZY! 4. Emily has been sick with an ear infection and sore throat with high fever. This has not helped the nighttime sleep patterns. So.....that is where I have been. But, I am still thankful. I have read so many blogs and heard so many prayer request at church of people going through terrible grief and pain. My struggles are nothing compared to that!
I hope to post some pictures soon.

Hey sweet friend. Sorry it is rough right now. Getting sick when pregnant is rough b/c there is so little you can take. I had a 2 month long sinus infection when pg with Eva and then finally went to the dr. in tears and said, "Make me better, I can't stand this." I finally got well. Hope you get well soon and life settles!

Hiding under the dining room table?!? HAHAHA! I know that's frustrating for you but aside from all that it makes me smile! I wonder who she gets that from? :)

It seems like colds/sinus just hangs on when you are pregnant. I don't know why that is. I hope you feel better real soon.

It used to make me crazy when Rhett wouldn't take naps--he'd go through times of good napping and then times like you're in now with E. He doesn't nap at all now (hasn't in nearly a year)--but he still "rests" for an hour in his bed in his room. When I finally admitted to myself that he was done napping, it was much easier because I didn't stress out and get mad/frustrated anymore. I hope she'll get back on schedule for you before the new baby arrives--I don't know about you, but just a little bit of routine does wonders for my sanity! Also, I'm so sorry you've been sick and had this cold for so long. Hopefully you're immune system will be back to 100% once the baby is born--I think being pregnant just wears down the whole system!?

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
