Sick!

I feel like we have just been a house of sickness since November. If I am not sick ,then Emily is sick. Steve got sick last week and missed 3 days of work. On Friday Emily got some sort of sickness and we took her to the Dr. on Sat morning. He just said she had the next "bug" going around. She has seen the Dr. 3 times in the last month. A couple of week ago she got Croup. She sounded aweful and it REALLY scared us. I try to wash her hands a lot and I am always washing my hands, so I don't know why we are getting so sick. I think I catch a lot of things because I am pregnant and my immune system is not as strong. I got something aweful on Sunday! I never have a sore throat but my nose runs more than it doesn't and is always stopped up. Monday I went to a walk in clinic and the Physican's Asssistant told me I had the flu, a cold, acute sinusitus, fluid behind my ears and bronchitis. I only believe half of that. I think I have a really bad cold. I have not had any aches like you would with the flu.
Today I have been trying to clean and wash away the germs. I am washing clothes that don't even need to be washed, but now I am paranoid. I hope we are all going to be healthy. I take that for granted! I have missed so many things in the past couple of weeks because of sickness. I am starved to be around people right now. I may hug the next friend I see!

Hi Laurie! I have been reading your blog! I'm so sorry you all have been sick. I hope it gets better real soon. It seems like we share every illness around my house too. Emily is such a doll! I know you have to be thrilled about expanding your family once again. Feel better!

Oh, I'm so sorry! :( It seemed that way around our house during the holidays--R had RSV, then after Christmas, L & A both had the stomach bug--yuck! Also, I had a 9-month-long cold when I was pregnant with both R & A. It was the strangest thing--It really was constant, then it cleared up immediately, even before I left the hospital I think!?! Get well soon!!!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
