Bunnies and Cats

I found these cute little bunny rabbits at Walmart this week.  Last night after everyone went to bed, I began decorating the the dining table for Easter.  Do you think it will be ready in time?  The thing is, we probably won't even eat at that table on Easter, but I have always LOVED Easter decor!  Steve sits at the table every morning morning to read his Bible and get ready for Sunday School.  When he came out this morning he said, "now when is Easter?"  He probably thought I was wacko, but didn't make any comment.

A blog reader asked me if I still have Kristen.  OH YES,  I DO.......  it would be big news if she passed.  I know she does not play well with others, but I LOVE her so much!  These pictures are Frisco.  I guess he is a good cat to have but he is very STRANGE.
Most all cats I have ever seen love to be in the sun.  Not Frisco, he prefers to lay about a foot away from where the sun is beaming in.  Most cats like a nice cozy spot to curl up.  Not Frisco, he prefers to spread out on the cold tile.  Most cats run after a toy.  Not Frisco, he just watches.  He is NOT a lap cat at all.  He will only eat Purina Kitten chow.  NO treats or any other people food or cat food.  BUT he WILL let the girls dress him and carry him around.  I got him for the girls, so I guess that is all that matters.
I must keep Frisco and Kristen separated at all times.  They ARE NOT FRIENDS!

I think I have a strange cat too. She won't curl up and cuddle, she prefers to lay on her back all spread out. I'm hoping it's a phase. :)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
