Nashville

October 16th is our anniversary.  We celebrated this past weekend with a trip to Nashville.  We dropped the girls off with Steve's parents in the Memphis area.  They had a cute cake to welcome the girls.  We are so thankful the girls were able to stay with them!  They were in good hands and the girls loved being with them.

We stayed at the Gatlord Hotel and Resort.  SOOOOOOO NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We had the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in.  This picture does not do it justice.

We went to the Grand Ole Opry.  We had never been.  It was such an enjoyable show!  I saw a bit nervous during the show becasue they call people up to play games between acts.  I would have been sooooooo chawed.  A lady was called up on stage to play a game called "Dance or Dare."  Steve and I were laughing SOOOOOO hard thinking about me being up there.  She took the dare and had to dance to the song, "country girl shake it for me now shake it for me for me now shake it for me."   Luke Bryan sings that.  Steve said if I had been up there, he would have been GONE when I came back to my seat.  Haha!
Jim Ed Brown was one of the hosts.  I knew him from somewhere....a commercial?  a show?  a movie?  Looked very very familiar to me.
Do you watch the ABC show "Nashville?"  Here is Will.  The crowd went CRAZY for him!!!!!

We really enjoyed Joey and Rory.  They were on "Can you Duet?' and made it big!  I LOVED  Gwen Sebastian.  She went really far on "The Voice" and was so good!!!!!

 After the show!
Sunday we went to downtown Nashville and went to the Johnny Cash museum.  I LOVE his music!!!!!!
Then we ate at Joe's Crab Shack and went to the Country Music Hall of Fame.  It was wonderful!!!!  The thing I liked the most was seeing the Hee Haw Set and their outfits.  I watched that show as a little girl.  I also enjoyed the Reba McEntire exhibit and the Carrie Underwood exhibit.  Very interesting!
One of my all time favorite country singers:  Travis Tritt.  I have seen him in concert three times!
I took this picture of the longest hallways in the world.

I am so very thankful for Steve!  I loved that we were able to have a little get-away!!!!!

I've read your blog for a while but not sure I've ever commented. I was in Nashville for my first time this weekend for my cousins wedding and was at the CMHF on sunday as well! The wedding was that night and my cousin works for Blake Shelton so the whole band was there including Gwen Sebastian as she is his backup singer!
Anyways, glad you had a wonderful weekend getaway!

Is that a suite? My husband and I have been there every year for the past five years on our anniversary. We always just get a balcony room. What kind of room is that? It's huge!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
