My List

Can you explain this to me?
We have to wake Emily up EVERY morning for school.  We wake her at 6:15 and sometimes it is really hard for her to get out of bed.  Yesterday was her first day out of school for the summer.  Guess what?  She woke up on her own at 6:05.  Unbelievable. I refused to get up.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading a blog where the writer and made a list.  It was a really fun read and so I am doing a little list today.

1.  I have to have ice in my water.  I can hardly drink water without ice. I don't like bottled water, it makes my stomach feel weird and almost gags me.  Put some ice in that water and I will drink it down in a second.

2.  I always like number 8 on any c.d.  It is usually my favorite song.

3.  When I go out to eat, I like a place that gives you a lot of food!  I want my money's worth and I like having leftovers for lunch the next day.

4.  You will never catch me reading any popular series like Hunger Games or Twilight.  It just does not interest me.

5.  I want to dress my little girls like LITTLE girls for as long as I can.

6.  I HATE change!

7.  I get very excited when my hair girl gets me 6 cans of Aquage hairspray at a discount!!!!

I love this.. I am opposite of you for #1, I have to have bottled water or tap water with a lemon in it or I gag. :)
and I always like #6 on a cd. It's always my favorite song no matter what. :) Love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful girls. Your family is precious.

I only like bottled water if it is flavored with some kind of drink mix.I don't listen to a whole lot of CD's though unless we're on the road! 4 out of 5 of my niece's dress like little girls, my 7 year old niece has a lot of pretty dresses that her Patti (Tamil word for Grandma) made for her and my almost 8 year old niece and 6 year old niece wear a lot of long tops that they wear like dresses with biker shorts or leggings under them and the almost 5 mo. old niece wears whatever her Mom puts her in but is a lot of little baby girl outfits. My sister & I always wore dresses and such, I still wear dresses and skirts occasionally.

I also need to have very cold water. I think this comes from when I pregnant and very nauseous and water which wasn't cold made me gag.

I also don't like change. In any form.

And I also think little girls should be dressed like little girls and not mini-adults or mini-preteens.

And yes, any day we need to be somewhere I need to wake my son at 8:30 and any day we don't need to be anywhere he wakes up on his own at 7:30, especially on Saturdays :)

ok don't laugh, but when you described your hair on a post, we have the same hair. I am constantly in search of the right product so I can have good hair. I recently got aquage uplifting foam but now you are showing their hairspray. How about a post on how youdo your hair and what you all use???

It's fun to get up early when you don't have to go to school!

I love your list! So you! #3 is one of the many reason we've been friends for so long! Bring on the food and keep it coming!

I too would love to see a post about your hair - what products you love & how you style it. You always look so put together.

I like ice too and I have to drink with a straw! :)

I love your list! I used to have to have my drinks cold. Then I took a trip to Europe, where they drink their water/drinks room temp. Since then, I don't need them cold. Hmm. I also don't feel the need to jump on the bandwagon and read popular books. I don't like being told, "You HAVE to read these books!" Haha. Thanks for sharing about you! You're so fun!

I wonder if the early wake-up time is because of the extended daylight. Right now we are at the longest days. It always makes me feel like getting up earlier and going to bed later!

Hey, Laurie - this is Jill's mom. As I read this post, I thought you might be interested in a book I just got for my children with girls, "How to Keep the Little in Your Girl" by Dannah Gresh.
I enjoyed reading your list. :)
Blessings!

My kids are the exact same way with waking up! Blows my mind! I'm the same way you are with water. I keep a glass full of ice water in the fridge at all times, and I can never finish a bottle unless it's poured on ice!

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
