The BIG Snowstorm

I don't remember EVER seeing this much snow. It is sooo beautiful!!!!!!!!!! Reminds me of when Mr. Ingalls opened up the window and climbed out onto the snow in his snow shoes.
I am happy to be snowed in with the ones I love so much! Steve is home today and that NEVER happens!!!!!
I am looking forward to watching American Idol tonight and not having to worry about going anywhere.
Emily has been working hard on her Valentine cards and Sarah Kate has been pretending she is Clara from the Nutcracker.
I have worked my way through a pile of clean laundry that was deeper than the snow. BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love to wash clothes, I just hate putting them away.

First off, I love your fireplace. It is gorgeous. That is a lot of snow you have. We are getting snow tonight *or so they say*. I must admit I'm really ready for Spring though. I too have done tons of laundry the past two days. It is piled sky high unfortunately and still needs put away. Oh well, maybe later. Hope you enjoy your snow day. Stay warm!!

Wow...that is a lot of snow. I love a good snow day with tons of snow and no where to go!! Glad you are having such nice family time....and, I totally agree with you on the laundry. I keep up with washing and drying, but the piles of clean clothes keep growing!

Putting away clothes is awful. I dread it and am terrible about letting laundry pile so high that it's embarrassing. The snow is beautiful. Enjoy the sweet time with your fam.

I can't believe how much snow you all are getting! Living in CA we NEVER get this; maybe a little frost if we're lucky.

I just hate putting folded towels and underwear away! I leave them in the basket until I need it to carry laundry again, then I consolidate them in another basket, so they can still sit there until we need them! Why is that? :-)

Hey! This morning when I got up and looked outside my first thought was this is like that Little House on the Prairie episode...actually, I call that show Little Sob Story on the Prairie. Anyway, then I thought of you and wished we were eating chips and salsa somewhere sunny and warm! If the snow will clear for longer than one day, we'll go to dinner!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves washing clothes, but hates putting them away. Wait... putting them away isn't so bad. It's the folding part that gets me.

I have been needing new jeans and haven't been able to find any, after seeing your post the other day about the Gap long and lean jeans I saw a pair on EBay for $10 bucks and bought them. They are awesome! Fit perfect too:) Thanks for posting about them, solved my jean dilemma.

Laurie, I love your blog. Have been following it for over a year now. Your girls are just adorable. I have made your Mississippi roast twice now and it is delicious.Took the recipe to work and several people there made it and loved it as well. Your recipe is circulating here in Virginia !I'm a retired grandmother of two and love to cook. (work part-time now)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck...

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST....

New Toys

Friday I decided that Emily was spending too much time watching t.v. I read an article on the internet about how babies learn best with hands on experiences. Emily has always LOVED t.v. She just gets glued to it. I had also been thinking about most all the toys she has are really too babyish for a 10 month old, sooooooooooooooooo I went to Wal-Mart Friday and got her some new toys. I got her a pull-along puppy and a toy in which you drop balls into the top of it and they go through a maze and turn on lights and play music. They were both for babies 12 months and older. Emily likes them, but she can't quite master them yet. She doesn't love them, as I had hoped. But, we have a family member who does LOVE them! It is our crazy cat Kristen. She loves to stalk and attack the puppy and she thinks the balls are for her. She played with them all afternoon on Friday. So Kristen thinks she has new toys especially for her and Emily is content playing with the remote, magazines, cords and...
