Tails of a Mad House Cat

I often share stories about Kristen , my crazy cat. There is one craziness I have never shared.

Kristen will not put her head in a cat bowl or dish to eat. She paws out a bite or two onto the floor and then eats it.

Emily has been able to pet Kristen a little more lately. Emily has to be very very quite and just pet her a few times and then walk away. Kristen does not like the girls talking or moving around her.

A friend asked me recently," who watches Kristen when ya'll travel?" I replied, "the Lord." That is the truth. We can leave her days on end and she is fine.

LOL- We had some hit and misses with our kids and cats after they were born, but my Mom gave us Sully, he's an 8 month old 10 lbs buff tabby, and my kids love him. He lets them pull at him smack him (I say no on that one but it still happens) and even lay on him and he has only scratched them a bit here or there as he escapes his torture. He really is the best cat, and even though he's been eating our Christmas tree, and broken several things I love, we'll keep him around.

I think it's hilarious that Crazy Kristen is, well, crazy. My in-laws have a cat named Tiger, that I call Devil because every time you walk by him he just screams like you're killing him. He HATES me the most and I have no clue why....but my kids are learning to stay away from him...lol

That's nice of the Lord not to charge any pet sitting fees! LOL, she's a big kitty!!

I'm smiling about the cat-sitting comment too. I'm wondering what would happen if I let the Lord watch my dogs while we went out of town. I'm guessing the result wouldn't be so great. I do have faith in Him, but... :)

This is all funny, but what really tickles me is that she has a sweet name like Kristen!

Hehehe that is too funny! Our cat sometimes does that too, and Murphy's Law, it's always with wet food, that makes a huge mess!

we have a crazy cat too and she only eats her food off of the floor. so for two cats, we only need one bowl because one eats out of the bowl and the other eats a pile of food on the floor!

How funny! My cat takes a big bite of food, and then drops it out on the floor and eats it off the floor. Glad to hear I don't have the only weird cat out there!

That's the difference between cats and dogs, I suppose! :)

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
