Easter and Bed Update

Thanks to all of you who took the time to give me good advice on keeping toddlers in the bed! We have had two good nights. We are just taking her back to the bed each time she gets up and she has also had a spanking or two. We may try the gate if she does not have a good week. I had told Steve we could get some of those really scary, rubber Halloween masks and sleep in them and when Emily saw us, I doubt she would get out of her bed anymore. Of course I was just kidding. Consistency is the answer. I really appreciate all your help!

Here is Emily on Easter morning. She got a princess doll and horse. She loved the doll the most. But, the doll was just junk. She lost her arm and leg within 30 minutes. Her dress also ripped in half. This did not seem to phase Emily. I am so thankful that Steve has always been so helpful with Emily. He has gotten her ready for church every Sunday morning ever since she was newborn. Here, she is sitting on her changing table. Notice her new horse.
Here she is at Aunt Kelly and Uncle Scott's house. She loved the puppy and candy they gave her.

Since it was COLD Sunday, we let Emily hunt eggs inside. She loved getting the "Crocket" (chocolate)-as she calls it.

I'm laughing about the masks!!!
I'm glad you have had a good few nights!
Steve is real sweet to get her ready. He is very helpful. I hope he will give Scott some lessons when it's time. ;-)

She is just darling!

I can't believe the princess doll broke the first day! That poor disney company must have not had the money to make a quality doll.

Emily's dress is so beautiful! Derek is very helpful, too, getting the kids dressed. I laughed so hard when he first asked, "Hey, it's tights, then bloomers, right?"

LD! I am so glad to read your update and hear your good report about bedtime. I was afraid everyone would think I was a monster if I was the only one to type the 's' word but I see you did type it!!! We moved Eva in a big girl bed and she got up alot the first night. The first night Ross lay down with her and talked to her about being a big girl, but she would always be his baby, etc. Then the 2nd night he got the rod :) But it didn't take too many and now she happily crawls in her bed. Her room is adorable. I am so excited about your new one...how many weeks left now? Do you think we can see each other this summer? -S

Complicated

Maybe I am wrong, but I don't remember life being so complicated when I was in middle school. Everything is so competitive now.  Maybe it was back then and I just didn't realize it. Sarah Kate started playing city league softball a couple of weeks ago.   We've been encouraged to get her private batting lessons. When I was in third grade I started playing softball and I just did it for fun!  No stress at all, as far as I can remember!  I just played.  I wasn't very good, but I liked it! Ha! Emily started band this year!  Before school started, I got a letter from the school district strongly encouraging "your band student to take instrument lessons."  WHAT?  I bought into it and got Emily private clarinet lessons (which she really enjoys)! But, what happened to learning as you go?  I never thought about taking private trumpet lessons when I started band. It seems like most parents are striving for their child to be THE BEST.  I guess that's a go

Something Good to Eat

Ever since Steve and I started dating, when we would go to Mississippi, his aunt would make the BEST ROAST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! Steve's Dad's side of the family gets together at his Granny's house for lunch every Sunday after church. The food is always sooo good!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always taken a liking to his Aunt Judy's roast. It really is the best roast I have ever had. When we were there on Labor Day weekend, my sister in law asked Aunt Judy for the recipe. Aunt Judy began naming all the ingredients. She said Ranch Dressing mix, and I bugged my eyes out and nearly chocked. I HATE RANCH DRESSING. I don't even like to be in the room with it. I had to focus on the word MIX....not the mayo and butter milk and sour cream that you add to it. Just typing those words makes me shudder. The recipe sounded awful as she rattled off the ingredients, but I promise, you have got to make this if you like a good roast. Trust me on this. Here it is: Get a tender chuck

Life in Pictures!

Emily is enjoying her first year in band.  I am very impressed with her playing skill! Sarah Kate was recently awarded the empathy award at her school.  She is very deserving of this! Here we are before the Cotillion Holly Ball.
